Trend Pocket Jig: Easy Wood Joining
Posted by Toolstop on 19th Apr 2016
Joining two pieces of wood together at right angles can be fiddly and annoying. But by using the Trend Pocket Hole Jig, you’ll be able to do it quickly and efficiently. Here’s how.
You need two pieces of kit to do it:
- a drill driver, set at speed 1, with the torque setting around 7 or 8
- the Trend Pocket Hole Jig
It’s vital to note at the start that the back of the piece your working on shouldn’t be important to the finished project and won’t be seen as this is where you’ll be drilling into.
Step 1:
Adjust the column positions using the allen key provided. Do so in such a way as the holes you’re drilling are far enough away from the outside edge of the material so as to prevent break through.
Step 2:
Clamp your work piece into the jig and use the supplied HSS drill bit in your drill driver to drill both of the holes.
Step 3:
Clamp both pieces together at right angles before using your drill driver (speed 1, torque setting 7 or 8) to drive the supplied dome head screws into each hole which will securely affix the work pieces together at a perfect right angle.
Job done.
