Find out everything you need to know about The World's First Cordless Tyre Buffer from Milwaukee in the Toolstop blog.
What is tyre buffing?
Tyre buffing is the process of shaving a portion of tread off of a tyre in order to gain increased traction in dry tarmac conditions. This works largely by removing tread 'blocks', which are the areas of rubber between tread grooves.
Tyre buffing is popular within the automotive trade in order to minimise the problems associated with tread-flex.
Over the last few years, Milwaukee has put significant focus on products designed specifically for the automotive trade, replacing traditional pneumatic tools with battery powered solution in order to make hoses a thing of the past.
Milwaukee just released the world's first cordless tyre buffer. Here's everything you need to know about it.
Milwaukee's cordless tyre buffer
Milwaukee just changed the game with the first ever cordless tyre buffer.
The M12 FTM FUEL low speed tyre buffer has a two-speed mode selector for reaming & buffing applications. It can complete all buffing and drilling applications in passenger, light truck and commercial tyres that are currently performed by the most common pneumatic low speed tyre buffers on the market. It is not a replacement for high speed tyre buffers.
Optimal speed settings of 1200 RPM in first mode (reaming applications) and 2500 RPM in second mode (buffing applications) help to avoid burning the rubber and damaging the tyre. Its pneumatic performance with cordless convenience allows for better accessibility and manoeuvrability in tight spaces. This model has a 7/16" quick change chuck and features Milwuakee's FUEL Powerstate brushless motor which provide more power and runtime. It can complete up to 10 tyre patch repairs on one single charge (with an M12 2.0Ah battery). And as well as this, it benefits from:
- Quick change chuck for fast and easy accessory changes - increases productivity
- Performs reaming and buffing applications for car and light truck tyres. The buffing application also works for tyres up to truck and tractor size
- Used for flat and patched tyre repairs
- Sustained power without bogging down
- Variable speed trigger provides outstanding control of the tool
- Trigger lock-off extends the life of the tool and battery
- On board fuel gauge and LED light to illuminate the work area
Benefits of cordless tools:
- Freedom to move around the workshop without cable limitations
- No cords to trip over
- Take them anywhere
