Makita 18V Drill Driver Review

Like its big cousin, the DDF480 is promising 1.5x longer run time per full battery charge due to the brushless motor. 16 torque settings are available, along with the great ergonomics, LED job light and variable speed trigger. And like above, this will run off the 5Ah li-ion batteries.

Another great feature on these new tools from Makita is XPT: “Extreme Protection Technology”. This is just a fancy way of saying that the tools will feature a degree of protection against water and dust ingress, ideal for anyone working in areas prone to being damp and dusty, or when you’re having to work outdoors during a rain shower.

A battery fuel guage has been a long sought-after feature on all Makita li-ion battery powered tools. It’s great to see this included on the DHP480 & DDF480. A simple press of the trigger will indicate what charge state your battery has.
