Dewalt recently released their first ever cordless mag drilll, and we're here to tell you everything you need to know about it.
What is a mag drill?
A magnetic drill is designed to drill holes in steel and similar metals. They have a magnetic base and feature a core drill which allows you to cut larger holes than standard drill bits.
Mag drills can also be used for reaming, countersinking and tapping.
Here's what you need to know
The DCD1623 is one of the first cordless mag drills to enter the market. Utilising FlexVolt Advantage technology and a brushless motor, it produces more power, efficiency and durability. This model is extremely effective and reliable, delivering class leading power and performance of up to 1050W and 49Nm.
You can find out more about FlexVolt Advantage in our blog.
It has an E-Clutch system which senses tool motion and cuts power to the motor if the unit detaches from the surface and a height adjustable gearcase for multiple applications. This model will drill up to 50mm diameter holes (best in class) with the use of annular cutters; much larger than competitior models. Features 3 adjustable magnet strengths: 0%, 15%, 100%. 15% is strong enough to hold the weight of the tool whilst allowing re-positioning.
Quick connect allows you to easily change the 19mm weldon shank annular cutters. The variable speed dial means you can adjust the speed depending on the material and hole size and the permanant magnet does not need electricity in order to hold to the material.

- Forward/reverse selector
- Two position side handle
- Battery well accepts up to 12.0Ah battery
- LED switch for better visibility in low lit situations
