Dewalt's first ever cordless biscuit jointer. Here's everything you need to know about it!
Dewalt just released their first ever cordless biscuit jointer, and we're here to tell you everything you need to know about it!
What is a biscuit jointer?
Biscuit jointing is the act of cutting a notch into 2 pieces of wood you wish to join, into which you insert and glue a biscuit. The resultant joints are strong and reliable, preventing any lateral movement in your workpiece. You can find out everything you need to know about biscuit jointing in our blog.
What can we expect from the DCW682?
Dewalt already has a corded biscuit jointer, the DW682. But with the introduction of thinner solid surface and composite worktops, there is now a greater need for biscuit jointers in kitchen and shopfitting, and with cordless tools slowly taking over the job site, Dewalt knew they had to follow suit.
Eliminating cords provides the user with greater freedom and moveability around the workshop without having to worry about trailing cables; productivity at its finest.
It has been a long time coming, so we have high expectations for it...
Dewalt claim this model will deliver up to 300 joints, or 600 cuts, per charge.
With the DCW682, users can achieve accurate results with #0, #10 and #20 biscuits. Adjusting the height, depth and bevel isn't a problem either thanks to its tool-free adjustment features.
Its brushless motor provides powerful and consistent cutting performance. Infact, you can expect an incredible 917W of power with a 5.0Ah battery.
It is extremely user friendly, featuring an electric brake, retractable anti-slip pins which assist in holding the material in place and a paddle switch design that accommodates both left and right handed users. Adjusting the bevel capacity is quick and simple with the integral fence. This machine can bevel from 0-90°.
Hook it up to compatible dust extractors via Dewalt's AirLock system, or to a standard 35mm dust extractor to help keep dust at bay.
Of course, this model is compatible with all of Dewalt's existing 18V XR batteries, meaning you can utilise your existing kit to power up this machine.

DW682 Vs DCW682
Lets compare the old corded model to the new cordless one:
DW682 Corded | DCW682 Cordless |
|
|
DW682 Corded:
- No-load speed: 10,000 rpm
- Max cutter diameter: 100mm
- Max cutting depth: 20mm
- Fence adjustment: 0-90 degrees
- Joint groover setting: 4mm
- Power output: 335W
- Hand/arm vibration: 2.5 m/s²
DCW682 Cordless:
- No-load speed: 9,000 rpm
- Max cutter diameter: 102mm
- Max cutting depth: 20mm
- Fence adjustment: 0-90 degrees
- Power output: 917W
- Hand/arm vibration: 2.5 m/s²
There's really not much difference between the two models, which is always a bonus when comparing cordless tools to corded. Sometimes, ditching the cord can compromise on power, but with this model, we can actually see a huge increase in power output, only a slight drop in rotations per minute, and the exact same cutting capacities.
The DCW682 gets a thumbs up from us! 👍
